JACK BESSANT

CONTENT & PUBLICITY – DEMI TAYLOR

JACK BESSANT

> CONTENT & PUBLICITY <

Demi, thanks so much.  Its the missing piece of the puzzle we needed… it beautifully ties everything together.

High Head Industries

THE IDEA

To support the album release of Lucky Mountain from musician Jack Bessant and communicate the soul of the project and the artist through considered creative content.

Distributed by High Head Industries

THE RESULT

Creative content direction and press materials supporting the solo project from musician Jack Bessant. Demi devised an intimate artist statement and story in place of a traditional press release and produced a music video for the Peacemaker EP utilising archive footage capturing the stripped back nature of the project.

THE APPROACH

Jack Bessant is perhaps best known as the bassist and founding member of British rock band Reef. For this, his solo project, we wanted to convey the personal side of his narrative, redirecting the story telling back to his own personal journey.

Following an in depth interview with Jack Bessant, Demi devised and produced an intimate artist statement and story in place of a traditional press release, bringing to the fore previously undisclosed details about Jack’s personal journey, capturing the soul of the project.

To accompany the release of launch Peacemaker EP, Demi produced the music video utilising original footage from a 1973 Himalayan ascent, shot on Bolex by climber Eric Davies.

LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a superb bit of film making, a bit bonkers, but deliciously informative… gives you a feel for the heart of this remarkable company.

GearNews.com

THE IDEA

Screenwriters Chris Nelson and Demi Taylor were commissioned to tell the story of the invention and impact of the Moog synthesizer in a 25 minute, energetic, high tempo documentary.

Directed by Peter Hamblin

Produced by Hamblin Imagery x Red Bull Media House

THE RESULT

Moog documentary premiered as S02 E05 of the award winning The Ripple Effect Series to a global audience on Red Bull TV written by Chris Nelson and Demi Taylor.

THE APPROACH

Dr. Robert Moog was a musical maverick and inventor of the world’s first modular synthesizer. Working with some of the most influential names in music, he created a seismic shift in the sonic landscape with an instrument that crossed genres, employed by the likes of The Beatles, Emmerson Lake & Palmer and Gary Numan to Nine Inch Nails, Stevie Wonder, Portishead, Georgio Moroder and beyond.

We spoke with Moog Brand Director Emmy Parker to uncover the story of how inventor and technologist Bob Moog took a nascent idea and redefined the musical landscape. We also brought insight from key players involved in the journey and posed questions for the likes of Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, Gary Numan, Adrian Utley (Portishead), Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) and Money Mark (Beastie Boys), helping the story breathe.

Weaving together a fast paced and authoritative voice-over with multiple talking heads, we created a script and guided the narrative from paper edit to completion.

The film tells the story of the invention and impact of the Moog synthesizer in a 25 minute, punchy and edgy documentary.

THE MOOG DOCUMENTARY

Fast, furious, visual and visceral and is probably what MTV would do if MTV still made programmes about music.
