Alexa Poppes and Sarah Bentley’s Ten Board Challenge is back for 2013! Hosted by National Trust at Godrevy on the 16th June this girls-only fun competition is all about style and stoke.

“We want it to be an event which reflects the diversity of surfing these days,” says designer Alexa who also happened to create the beautiful event poster. “I also hope it will encourage people to try different things. We changed the format this year so the winner will be the most flexible surfer and most importantly everyone will have fun along the way”

Entrants choose one of ten boards which will include fish, longboards, shortboards and mid length boards by a variety of shapers. The competition is about encouraging all kinds of surfers to enter, to push themselves on boards they might not always ride and it will be a great chance for people to try some different shapes. Approaching Lines are stoked to be supporting the event – in the evening we’re hosting a special charity screening at the Godrevy Cafe, stay tuned for details.

“More girls than ever are surfing in the UK but unfortunately there are fewer women’s events on the competition calender,” says Sarah Bentley. “In moving away from the usual contest criteria the plan is that more girls will be encouraged to enter and show us their skills. Essentially it is a fun event and we’re keen for first time competitors to sign up and take part.  It’s a great opportunity to get like minded surfers together, to experience different boards and compete to become the ten board challenge champion. See you there for some surfing, board chat, tea and cake!”
